Since 2002, fortyfivedownstairs has presented independent, experimental and challenging art forms.
We have enriched Melbourne’s cultural reputation by providing a multifaceted program of exhibitions, performance and debate.
Our survival as a not-for-profit organisation is largely due to the dedication and loyal support of a small band of private donors. We need to enlist your support for our continued survival so that we can make money for artists rather than from them.
We’ve got big plans for 2013 – and here are just some of the ways you can get involved:
• Did you know we have a studio space? Help us give artists the opportunity to share their work by implementing a seasonal Artist in Residence Program. Each residency will culminate in an exhibition or series of community workshops, transforming the gallery from a looking space into an active doing and learning space.
• In 2013, we’re beginning a Performance Pathways Program – giving theatremakers and collectives the space they need to develop fully realised work. We want to partner with dynamic creatives through the development and the presentation of high-quality new performance.
• Most importantly, we need your support to keep our doors open. We have a mission to provide an affordable space in the heart of the city. Help us pay the rent to keep the walls and floorboards talking.
After 10 years we’re not slowing down!
