Artist Gay Hawkes, who has exhibited at fortyfivedownstairs on several occasions as well as nationally and internationally over the years, has suffered the loss not only of her home and studio, but her entire archive in the disastrous fires at Dunalley in Tasmania. Her artist friends and admirers have joined us to organise a fund-raising event to help rebuild her studio, replace her tools and help her to start work again.
An evening of art and music which will be compered by Gay’s great admirer Moira Finucane, star of the wonderful Burlesque Hour. The sounds of Rachel Guy and gypsy group Vardos will accompany the event. Over 40 artists have donated works including Jacqui Stockdale, Barbie Kjar, Simon Cuthbert, Sally Curry, Naomi Howard, Eve Howard and Archibald winner Sam Leach.
Do not miss this chance to acquire a piece of fine art while supporting the woman who has given to so many in her community work and art practice.
Light refreshments will be served, drinks at bar prices and all proceeds to go to Gay Hawkes.
For donations or for those who are unable to attend and who wish to place a bid please contact us on 03 9662 9966 or firstname.lastname@example.org
