Beck Wheeler’s colourful Neo-tribal series, Gone Bush, blends European folklore with myths and legends from Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. Colour palettes are reminiscent of 1970′s European childrens books whilst the pattern making takes inspiration from Maori, Pacific Island and Aboriginal art.

Beck was born in Germany, raised in England and has spent large parts of her life in both NewZealand and Australia.

‘All these places have helped to shape me, yet the transient nature of my childhood has also resulted in feelings of displacement. The characters in the works are personifications of natural elements and have become my own personal deities.’
