Irititja by Tjaruwa Woods Vivien Anderson Gallery Chapman and Bailey

The Spinifex Arts Project was established in 1997 as part of the Native Title documentation process. Large collaborative paintings were created that document the entire Spinifex area, ranging over the Great Victoria Desert to the Great Australian Bight, showing claimants birthplaces and important stories that traverse and give form to the area.

These paintings were formally included in the preamble to the Native Title agreement ratified before the Federal Court in November 2000. Subsequent to Native Title the artists continued to paint their country.

This exhibition celebrates 15 years of exploring, mapping and documenting their country with a new series of paintings in glorious colour. The artists will attend the opening and a fully Illustrated catalogue is available for sale.

Join us to celebrate this milestone exhibition presented by Vivien Anderson Gallery
