29 June - 16 July
Moira Finucane, one of the world’s greatest performance chameleons, debuts her major new work, The Rapture; a transcendent emporium of gothic-erotic dreams, rock ‘n’roll angels, literary genius, soul-searing music, and total art. You’ll step into an underground treasure lair dripping with visual art relics, an otherworldly choir, and skin-shedding tales to witness the ultimate showdown – art vs extinction – who will win in the race to the end of the world?
Moira Finucane has been hailed as ‘transcendent’ by audiences across 5 continents and described by critics as ‘exquisité’, ‘the volcanic physical presence’, ‘mesmerizing’, and as a ‘national treasure’.
Her new production The Rapture sets fire to her past variety work, reincarnating Finucane as a transformer, a snake always shedding her skin, writhing through a visual feast of prophecy, Gothic dreams, birds of prey, soaring wings, apocalyptic fairy tales. Immersed in a visual and aural landscape created by internationally renowned sculptors William Eicholtz & Catherine Lane; visual artists from Arts Projects Australia; sonic genius Shinjuku Thief and a catacomb choir of beyond-genre voices: from heavenly voiced counter-tenor diva Mama Alto, smoky chanteuse Clare St Clare and 82-year-old heartbreaking songbird Shirley Cattunar.
Finucane & Smith Unlimited are globally acclaimed for their all-encompassing entertainments. They are the most awarded provocative variety outfit in the world. In the last 5 years, they’ve repeatedly become an Australian first; taking their cult-hit works – from drama to cabaret – to major festivals worldwide. The Rapture is no exception, mixing the erotic and the gothic, the hysterical and the apocalyptic, the sacred and the profane, all with table seating, and drinks at the bar.
Be among the first to experience her latest debut, gothic, provocative, sensation, The Rapture…. See it now, witness the birth of a cult hit, before the world ends!

‘The extraordinary Moira Finucane, head of a tribe as unclassifiable as talented, but also by her look, sometimes sharp, but full of vitality, with which she knows to describe aspects of the contemporary world.’ La Nacion, Argentina
‘An evening with Moira Finucane is like being chased a Berlin back street by a lily skinned ermine clad amazon who boxes you around the ears with a wheelie bin before feeding you a nice custard… she’s a little hard to categorise’ Sunday Age
