…the intimacy of the valley and immediacy of the water’s edge.
This body of work follows on from the Daylesford Landscape series and concentrates on the area known as Central Springs Reserve in the village of Daylesford, Victoria’s Central Highlands.
After living on the shores of this waterway for several decades Allan finds ample motivation to create a wide range of optimistic imagery.
The large colourful canvases take inspiration from the intimacy of the valley and immediacy of the water’s edge, however viewers will find he has taken plenty of license with the palette and natural state of the landscape.
Allan’s book “Lake Daylesford” will be available to purchase throughout the exhibition. $30.
Words by Andrew Masterson, photography by Sharyn Cairns.
It is also available to buy online from November
Allan Wolf-Tasker is a painter living in Australia. His time is spent split between three studios, Melbourne, Wye River and Daylesford. The latter is set amongst the lush gardens of the renowned Lake House hotel, restaurant & spa which he built with his wife and business partner Alla.
Allan’s work has always drawn inspiration from many different fields. Whilst the early years saw strong links with the land, the effect of drought and flood etc there has also been a popular series inspired by the intimate nature of hospitality and a 3 dimensional series of still lives. The most recent paintings reveal a return to the landscape – strong aerial views of coastal waters and also the creek beds throughout Daylesford and spa country.
Exhibitions include group and solo shows in Melbourne, Perth, Sydney and New York.
Allan Wolf-Tasker’s work is now represented internationally in both private and public collections.
