This group exhibition, Carmichael 2, will celebrate the work and influence of the artist, educator and writer Rod Carmichael (1931–2008). It is the second in a series of shows intended to keep his spirit alive.
Carmichael has been described as “exasperating”,” a maverick” and “a genius” but whatever the truth of this enigmatic man, his work deserves to be seen.
All contributing artists have been connected with Carmichael through friendship, work and study and have been touched in various ways by the outpouring of Carmichael’s enthusiasms for painting. They include Richard Glasson, Peter Hill, Virginia Hodgkinson, Shirley Hurley, Jeffrey Makin, Barry Oliver, Rohan Robinson, Sally Scott, Heather Stewart and David Hugh Thomas.
