“Dreamers showcases hope in stunning cast led by Helen Morse”
Rebecca Harkins-Cross, The Age
“Dreamers is a perfect example of strong writing, acting, and directing coming together to create a highly memorable theatrical experience for its audience.”
Myron My, Theatre Press
fortyfivedownstairs is proud to announce the Australian premiere production of Dreamers, written by Daniel Keene and directed by Ariette Taylor.
Dreamers deals with questions at the heart of contemporary life – the struggle against intolerance, the fear of difference and a love that is perceived as inappropriate.
Dreamers explores a young man’s experience trying to establish himself in a new country, amid growing fear and animosity as he begins a relationship with an older woman who is also familiar with isolation and loneliness.
We are thrilled to bring together this extraordinary creative team for the first time in over a decade. They previously collaborated in the highly successful and ground breaking Keene Taylor Theatre Project which ran from 1997 until 2002. Together they presented seventeen seasons of works, a total of 47 productions, including full length and short plays.
Dreamers will build upon this extraordinary collaboration, whilst producing a play with searing contemporary relevance.
