In this special one night only performance, flautist Lina Andonovska presents Lost Compass, Forgotten World, a brutal yet gorgeous program as part of the New Music Network’s 2012 mini-series.
Joined by some of Australia’s best interpreters of contemporary music, Andonovska will take audiences on a metaphysical journey through a soundscape that enraptures the listener.
The primative sounds of George Crumb’s Idyll for the Misbegotten are counteracted with the evocative Light Rain by Lachlan Skipworth, as well as repetitive loops in a world premiere by Austin Buckett and the sound world of Anthony Pateras, who’s music is described as ‘not for the faint of heart or ear’.
Andonovska returns to Australia to performing her cutting edge interpretation of contemporary flute works after performing and studying in the UK. She will be joined by Elizabeth Welsh (vln), Leigh Raymond (vln), Tuuli Rantanen (vla), Paul Zabrowarny (vc) and percussionists Matthias Schack-Arnott, Matt Horsley, Erica Rasmussen and Arwen Johnston.
