The Journey is a tender and illuminating play about one of the most emotional and controversial issues of our time – infertility.
A two-hander, directed by Brenda Palmer and featuring Carolyn Masson and Sarah Ranken, it focuses on the intimate relationship between an intended mother in the United Kingdom and the surrogate she hires in the United States.
Written by former Age journalist Jane Cafarella, it was inspired by interviews with infertile women in Australia and in Thailand and online surrogacy communities.
Jane has had various short plays and monologues produced in Australia, and in Singapore, where she now lives. This is her first full-length play.
