Another tour in the nude
When Maude Davey performed her My Life in the Nude show at La Mama last year, it was supposed to mark the retirement of the famous naked routines she’d developed in the course of a career. The season was so successful, however, that nearly as many audience members were turned away at the door as managed to secure a seat, which puts the piece in good stead as one of the two works to introduce the inaugural ENCORE partnership between the Carlton institution and Flinders Lane venue fortyfivedownstairs. Fellow sell-out show Mein Kampf, written by Hungarian iconoclast George Tabori and directed by Beng Oh, will join My Life in the Nude for return seasons at fortyfivedownstairs in July, and both venues have committed in principle to continue the search for future works that will demand repeat seasons. fortyfivedownstairs.com
